The Bare Essential Coaster/ Cocktail Napkin Tray - 1920's Prohibition

$11.99 $15.99

Hidden behind a Chinese laundry in lower Manhattan, "The Bare Essential" was a classic speakeasy. The password was either "dolls" or "dandy" we're not quite sure. Like most such establishments, the Fed's eventually caught on and closed it down. Raise a toast in memory of this long gone watering hole.

Use one as a catch all tray or get a set and use them as coasters. They make pretty swanky serving dishes as well. Own a piece of history.

The underside reads: "A Speakeasy, also called a 'Blind Tiger' was a saloon or social club that illegally sold alcohol during Prohibition (1920 to 1933). The owners of these saloons, and the gangsters that supplied them with their stock, like the notorious Al Capone and his Chicago Organization, were seen by the public as glamorous personalities. Speakeasies were also the first bars to encourage women to patronize them by offering music and entertainment as well as fancy cocktails. In honor of these long gone night spots, Trixie & Milo present our "Speakeasy" trays, each one decorated with a vintage cocktail napkin design from the 1920's to 30's."

Features:

  • 6" x 6" heavy procelain tray.
  • Food safe and dishwasher/microwave safe.
  • Vintage artwork fired into the ceramic (will never come off)!
